Stratton Engineering is a primary service provider to the marine industry in Northern Tasmania. Services include:

• Ship maintenance
• Cargo handling equipment fabrication and maintenance
• Shipping container repairs and refurbishment

Stratton carry out shipping container repairs for Toll Shipping and Australia Post, as well as refurbishment of containers and associated equipment. The Container Repair Facility engages 10 to 13 employees full time.

The work at Toll Shipping includes maintenance of a fleet of roll trailers used to transfer shipping containers to and from the ships, Painting of the roll trailers, Maintenance and modification crews who work onboard the ships, Maintenance of the associated equipment at the wharf workshop (Gooseneck equipment used to haul roll trailers, trailer stands, lashing gear etc.), and the fabrication of cargo handling equipment (lashing points, mushrooms, goosenecks, trailer stands and cargo securing chains etc.)

An additional property at 37 River Road which accommodates the Container Repair Facility and storage yard.
