Our History
Stratton Engineering was established by the late Peter Stratton in 1987 to carry out fabrication and maintenance for Brambles Shipping at the Burnie wharf. Initially the business employed 2 others along with Peter Stratton and operated from a workshop provided by Brambles Shipping
Brambles Shipping remained a substantial part of Stratton Engineering until 1989 when the company began to diversify its activities beyond work at the Burnie wharf. Since 1989 Stratton Engineering expanded its activities by:
- Purchasing in 1989 land at 24-26 River Road, Wivenhoe, and progressively constructing workshops, blast and paint facility and a powdercoating plant
- Performing fabrication and maintenance work on mining equipment, largely the repair of excavation buckets and truck trays.
- Performing a range of general fabrication and maintenance activities for a variety of industries
- Leasing a property at 37 River Road to house the container repair facility
- Opening Tasmania's first Metaland franchise to compliment Stratton Engineering and increase market exposure.
